Description
Rublev Colours Transparent Red Iron Oxide is a yellowish red that shows very good transparency with a high color strength and a clean shade. Add transparent red iron oxide to earth colors to enhance the color and increase saturation. The color of this pigment in glazes is very pure and intense, but it must be mulled for full effectiveness.

Transparent red iron oxide is a synthetic iron oxide with the chemical formula of Fe2O3 and a hematite structure.
Permanence and Compatibility
These pigments show very high fastness properties including weathering, solvent and chemical fastness. Their strong UV-light absorption provides a natural, continuous UV protection and is mostly used in wood stains.
Oil Absorption and Grinding
Transparent red iron oxide absorbs a high amount of oil (60 to 100 grams per 100 grams of pigment). It disperses well in both oil and water-based paints but requires more mulling to bring out its transparency due its very fine particle size.
Toxicity
Transparent red iron oxides are not considered toxic, but care should be used in handling the pigment to avoid inhaling powder.
