With a simple turn of a dial, you can achieve a sturdier tip, with less lead breakage at a lower number setting such as 1 or 2. A Shorter pencil tip is recommended for softer lead such as color pencils or short pencils such as golf pencils and half pencils. For a longer lead tip, set the dial to a higher number. A longer lead point lasts longer before having to sharpen again and is suitable for harder lead pencils. It also allows for maximum shading area while sketching and drawing.
