Mix Schmincke Oil Bronze Medium with Bronze Powder to create custom metallic oil paints.

Combine three parts bronze powder with two parts bronze medium to create an opaque, glossy metallic paint. Oil Bronze dries to a smudge-proof, waterproof metallic finish on primed wood, metal, and gypsum. Dried paint can be removed with turpentine or solvent if necessary. (Surface tests are recommended prior to the application of varnish!)

How To Mix with Bronze Medium

1. Mix the bronze powder with Schmincke Bronze Medium. Start with approximately 3 parts bronze powder to 2 parts bronze medium.
2. Adjust the ratio to control coverage or transparency.
3. Apply like paint to create metallic accents, layers, or finishes.
4. Allow to dry to a durable, reflective surface.
5. Thicker mix → more coverage and stronger metallic effect. Thinner mix → smoother application and subtle shimmer/glaze.
6. Allow to dry fully before varnishing (if desired).
