Schmincke Horadam Naturals Watercolor – Rugen Chalk, 15ml Tube
Rugen Chalk is a warm, translucent, extremely lightfast white. The genuine chalk pigment is derived from fossilized calcium carbonate. We know prehistoric artists used chalk to paint caves because the evidence is still visible.
The natural pigments are sometimes slightly coarser in texture, which – unlike gouache – results in a rougher, usually slightly granular surface effect. The colors aren’t stiff but don’t flow as easily as traditional watercolor.
