3 hours
beginner, all skill levels, process based

This class takes place IN PERSON on Saturday, April 18, 11am-2:00pm our store at 1490 17th st in San Francisco, CA. Please contact nathaniel with any questions regarding workshops!

Never used a gelli plate before? Not to worry, this is the workshop for you. This workshop starts at the beginning by students learning and getting comfortable with what this tool can do. The time in the class is process focused with no ulterior motives. You won’t leave with a finished product from these sessions but you will leave with a stack of prints and tons of ideas on how you can use the gelli plate in your own art making going forward. This workshop is great for artists who need a few hours of creative play, as well as beginning printmakers who want an ease-filled introduction to the world of mono printing. We will create quick, no pressure mono prints on all kinds of paper using simple marks and symbols.

A materials fee of $15** (included in the workshop price) will cover the paint, paper and any other supplies used during the class.

e bond is a designer + artist + writer + bookbinder & educator. Currently, she teaches art workshops & creates art for fabric collections by day, makes handmade books by night, hangs out with trees on weekends and writes something close to poems in the spaces between. Under the studio name roughdrAftbooks, she makes one-of-a-kind artists books, printed pieces and abstract drawings that merge and blur the boundaries of art, craft, surface design and poetry. e holds a BFA in graphic design and art history from Moore College of Art & Design and an MFA in Creative Writing and Book Art from Mills College. Her work is held in library collections across the US and has been published in Printed Matter Magazine, Uppercase Magazine, Berkeley Poetry Review, 500 Handmade Books, as well as numerous books (about books). Most recently, e’s work has moved into the wonderful world of surface design where she designs colorful, abstract fabric collections in collaboration with Free Spirit Fabrics.
