Mastic

Description

Renowned as the most flexible of all the triterpene resins, Mastic is a translucent, pale yellow resin with a delicate aromatic scent. It yields a remarkably soft, elastic, and highly durable varnish.

• Solubility: Fully soluble in alcohol, turpentine, white spirit, and aromatic hydrocarbons.
• Studio Applications: Ideal for formulating custom binders (mixed with wax or oils) and long-lasting varnishes.
• Varnish Preparation: Suspend 100g of mastic pearls in a gauze bag within 300ml of turpentine or white spirit to dissolve (similar to the Dammar method).
