1980 colors are miraculously well-priced considering they are formulated with pure pigments, the finest refined linseed oil, and colorless marble dust pigment (calcium carbonate).

Made with the same pure pigments that go into Gamblin’s Artist Oils, these paints are created with the same processes of mixing, milling, filling, and hand-labeling. With 1980 colors, artists experience colors that are true, without homogenized texture or muddy color mixtures. Gamblin’s approach of using both traditional raw materials and processes ensures luscious working properties.

While Gamblin 1980 oil colors are lower in pigment load than their artist-grade counterparts, Gambin does use (the safest versions of) real cobalts and cadmiums in these paints. They are boosted only slightly with other pigments so that students can experience the same intense color of higher grade paints.
